Cambridge English For Life (CEFL) continues its partnership with The Edge Education Foundation (TEEF) for its latest Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project, which is to provide English lessons for a period of 10 weeks to students who are sitting for their PT3 examinations this year at two schools in Klang Valley. The lessons are conducted after school hours from 1.30pm to 3.30pm, every Wednesday.
This time around, 45 students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) St. Gabriel, Taman Maluri, Kuala Lumpur and 35 students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Bandar Utama, Selangor are involved in this project. The lessons are scheduled from 29th July – 30th September 2015 for SMK St. Gabriel, meanwhile, it is from 5th August – 7th October 2015 for SMK Bandar Utama. Throughout the two-hour lessons, CEFL teachers would guide the students by providing them worksheets that are specially developed for them and the students are also encouraged to participate in a series of interactive and engaging activities.
On the first week of the programme, students were put through a mock speaking test to help them prepare for their PT3 speaking test on 11 August 2015. There are two sections in the speaking test where the students had to read a passage out loud and were given a topic to discuss about, conforming to the PT3 syllabus designed by the Ministry of Education. The mock speaking test was done individually and each was assigned to one CEFL teacher.
